MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. Bacterial resistance to antibiotics has been recognised for over many years, and the ability of organisms to develop resistance to new-generation antibiotics is well known.

Possible causes for your Dog to contract MRSA can come from Wound infections (including post-elective surgery), Hospitalisation or through the use of immunosuppressant drugs.

Dogs diagnosed with MRSA can be treated with alternative antibiotics, based upon culture and sensitivity findings but your Vet will know the correct course of treatment to follow.
